About
My name is Alex Duane and I seek making, tinkering, and building projects. These efforts look like art projects or practical projects or sometimes both. Whether it be jumping around from fixing and restoring of bikes, editing video and photo projects, or making drawings and sculptures, I find myself drawn to ideas around nuance in our relationship to development and the natural world. I would like to think I sponge up visual experiences and otherwise to produce art that makes me laugh, cry, think, or just feels right.
After graduating as an art and environmental studies double-major, I worked as an outdoor educator, rambling around the west, contract-to-contract for a long time. Beyond linking up seasonal gigs to support my own skiing, climbing and biking adventures in amazing places, I facilitated life-changing wilderness experiences for high school and college students. Since then, I been based year-round in the greater Seattle area and worked in outdoor industry and I am now preparing to become an art teacher. This is my website.
